ThiriyambagaSarma Sothinathan is a dedicated Salesforce professional who first dreamed of attending Dreamforce as a new Trailblazer back in 2016. In 2024, that dream finally came true. His story is a testament to what happens when ambition, patience, and the power of community come together.
For ThiriyambagaSarma, Dreamforce wasn’t just an event—it was a pivotal moment of personal growth, authentic connection, and renewed purpose in the Salesforce ecosystem.
A Long-Awaited Dream Realized
Last year, 2024, was my very first Dreamforce experience, and honestly, it was nothing short of a dream-come-true. Ever since I started my Salesforce Trailblazer journey in 2016, I’ve imagined what it would be like to walk among thousands of innovators, visionaries, and learners, all united by a shared sense of curiosity.
The moment I stepped into Dreamforce, it was like stepping into a living, breathing universe powered by energy, vision, and the combined passion of thousands of Trailblazers from across the globe. I was thrilled at the prospect of just being there—but what happened next blew me away.
My Unforgettable “Aha” Moment
The opening keynote with Marc Benioff was electric. Seeing Marc live on stage, feeling the pulse of the entire hall, and realizing I was in that room—those feelings are hard to describe. And then, purely by luck, I had a quick face-to-face interaction with Marc himself and got to snap a selfie! That simple moment of acknowledgement made me feel part of something much bigger than myself. For years, I’d admired Salesforce’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity, but this was real, personal, and truly inspiring.
Exceeding All Expectations
Before Dreamforce, I’d watched streams, seen multiple event recaps, and heard plenty from the Trailblazer Community. Even so, Dreamforce in person was an entirely different level. No video or testimonial could possibly capture the sheer magnitude—the flawless organization, the crowd’s contagious energy, and the unexpected moments around every corner. Every zone, session, and conversation felt crafted for both inspiration and belonging. I walked away realizing I’d experienced something far greater than I’d ever hoped for.
Community: The Real Takeaway
The most valuable thing Dreamforce taught me was the incredible power of true networking. Yes, there was technical content around every corner, but it was the human connections—coffee break conversations, hallway introductions, and spontaneous chats during sessions—that left the strongest mark. I learned that in Salesforce, relationships aren’t just beneficial; they’re essential. Building your network in this ecosystem means opening yourself up to endless growth, new perspectives, and lifelong mentors and friends.
Inspiration That Lasts
Marc Benioff’s keynote did more than introduce Agentforce; it painted a compelling vision of the future—where innovation, trust, AI, and human connection come together to change how businesses serve their customers. It showed me where this ecosystem is headed, and invited all of us along for the journey. That moment sparked ideas I’m still thinking about—and inspired me to dream, build, and connect even more.
Career and Community Growth
Attending Dreamforce was a turning point in my Salesforce career. Face-to-face meetings with role models, leaders, and community MVPs made the event far more than a conference. Their stories, encouragement, and advice convinced me that growth here is about far more than certifications or job titles—it’s about passion, collaboration, and giving back. Dreamforce made me realize my path can be as wide and rewarding as I dare to make it.
Reuniting, Expanding, Uplifting
One of my favorite parts was reconnecting with Trailblazers from my Sri Lankan community—many living abroad but returning to the event. These moments reminded me how global, generous, and supportive the Salesforce family really is. The willingness to help, share, and support each other in career and life is what makes this ecosystem truly special.
My Networking Strategy
Planning ahead was key. I reviewed sessions, identified speakers I admired, and mapped out community meetups I didn’t want to miss. But spontaneity was equally powerful—open, unscripted chats in cafés or hallways often led to the most meaningful conversations. I always made sure to follow up afterward and keep those new relationships growing.
Looking Ahead to Dreamforce 2025
I’m definitely going back! With Dreamforce’s focus on AI (especially Agentforce) and the next wave of platform innovation, I can’t wait to see what’s next. Add in inspiring keynotes, real-world showcases, and excitement like Dreamfest—and, of course, more Trailblazer swag and unforgettable networking—and there’s every reason to return.
Tips for Your First Dreamforce
-
Don’t over-plan! Choose sessions mindfully, but leave space for networking and relaxation.
-
Prioritize people. Spark conversations, meet new folks, and let the community magic happen.
-
Comfortable shoes and strategic scheduling are a must—pre-plan session locations and travel time.
-
Don’t stress if you miss a session—many are recorded for Salesforce+.
-
Make sure to experience the Keynote speech, “True to the Core,” and the Trailblazer party—these are can’t-miss highlights!
Above all, remember: Don’t overcomplicate, connect instead. The magic of Dreamforce isn’t just in the content or the sessions—it’s in the people you meet and the energy you take home.
Dreamforce changed how I dream, build, and give back. If you’ve ever wondered if attending is worth it—the answer is yes, a hundred times over. Get ready, make some space in your calendar, and prepare to be inspired. The real dream of Dreamforce is about community—and it’s waiting for you, too.
