Creating Job Types #

Step 1: Access Job Type Management #

  1. Open FieldAx Admin app
  2. Navigate to Job Types tab
  3. Click New button

Step 2: Basic Job Type Information #

Enter fundamental details:

Job Type Identification

  • Job Type Name: HVAC Annual Maintenance (required)
  • Job Type Code: HVAC-AM-001 (unique identifier)
  • Category: Preventive Maintenance
  • Status: Active

Description Section

  • Short Description: Annual HVAC system maintenance and inspection
  • Detailed Description: Comprehensive maintenance including filter replacement, coil cleaning, refrigerant check, electrical inspection, and performance testing

Step 3: Service Requirements #

Define what’s needed for this service:

Duration Estimates

  • Estimated Duration: 2 hours
  • Minimum Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Maximum Duration: 3 hours
  • Buffer Time: 30 minutes (travel/prep)

Scheduling Parameters

  • Advance Notice Required: 24 hours
  • Scheduling Window: Business hours only
  • Season Restrictions: Not available Dec-Jan
  • Weather Dependent: Yes (no service <32°F)

Step 4: Required Skills Configuration #

Specify technician qualifications:

Primary Skills (Required)

  • HVAC Certification
  • EPA Universal License
  • 2+ years experience

Secondary Skills (Preferred)

  • Electrical License
  • Manufacturer Certification
  • Customer Service Training

To add skills:

  1. In Required Skills related list
  2. Click Add Skills
  3. Search and select skills
  4. Set Requirement Level: Required/Preferred
  5. Set Minimum Proficiency: 3 (scale 1-5)

Step 5: Parts and Materials #

Define standard parts needed:

Standard Parts List

  • Part Name: HVAC Filter 20x25x1
  • Quantity: 1
  • Required: Yes
  • Customer Billable: Yes

To add parts:

  1. Go to Required Parts related list
  2. Click New Required Part
  3. Add each part:
    • Select from Product catalog
    • Set default quantity
    • Mark if optional/required
    • Set billing rules

Common Parts for HVAC Maintenance

– Air Filter (size varies) – Qty: 1 – Required

– Coil Cleaner – Qty: 1 bottle – Required  

– Contact Cleaner – Qty: 1 can – Optional

– Capacitor (backup) – Qty: 1 – Optional

– Refrigerant R410A – Qty: As needed – Optional

– Belt (if applicable) – Qty: 1 – Optional

Step 6: Service Checklist #

Create standardized inspection points:

Pre-Service Checks

  • Verify customer information
  • Confirm system model/serial
  • Review service history
  • Check warranty status

System Inspection

  • Check thermostat operation
  • Inspect electrical connections
  • Test system cycling
  • Measure temperature differential

  1. In Service Checklist section
  2. Click Add Checklist Item
  3. Enter:
    • Item Name: Check thermostat operation
    • Category: System Inspection
    • Required: Yes
    • Order: 1
  4. Repeat for all items
